It all started two years ago…2009……………..
I shall relate here some details, that makes history more interesting, and for respect of the involved persons.
By the end of 2008 Vice Premier Waldemar Pawlak was attending a conference on innovative technologies in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, our District Capital. When speaking about his interest for innovative technologies and flying machines such as gyroplanes, he met Paul Komender, a PPL pilot following the gyro developments in Poland. Paul mentioned to him that if he is looking for a really innovative company, he had a worldwide known gyroplane manufacturer, just around the corner, in the neighboring city of Jaktorów.
Few months later, in 2009, Vice Premier and Minister of Economy Pawlak, made us a surprise visit at the factory, having a first deep look at the gyroplane technology and its possibilities.
Several meetings with us later, he asked me to personally try the XENON. He was impressed and delighted, even taking over the controls from me (Raphael Celier) for some time.
I presented him all the technical and application aspects, and he proposed the idea for the creation of a new special air patrol unit, as an extension of OSP (Volunteer Fire Guards) mission.
We exchanged our points of view, and I made the presentation of the French "Civil Security” (Securite Civile) that acts on similar basis. In the future we shall make contact to this organization for experience exchange.
Many more flights where organized, our Vice Premier taking some flight lessons and enjoying a very economic way of air transportation.
During a private dinner, we were searching for an organization / unit name, when he proposed “SKY GUARDS”…immediately adopted !
He mandated me to drive, coordinate and organize the program.
I wrote the application requirements for the candidates, with annotations and recommendations, and submitted it to him.
